Heatherbrae’s Pies: Apprentice Pastry Chef

Full Time Position (including TAFE attendance) – ideal for school leavers (years 10, 11 or 12).

For over 20 years Heatherbrae’s Pies have been delighting our customers with our multi-award winning gourmet pies and now we are bringing them to the Central Coast.

We are on the lookout for the next generation of passionate and committed Pastry Chef Apprentices who are keen to establish a rewarding career and would like to join our team, working with talented industry professionals in our brand-new Ourimbah store.

We prepare and bake seven days a week and you would be rostered over a five day week commencing 5:00am daily. One of these days would be a TAFE day learning in a practical classroom environment.

Ideal candidates will need to meet the following requirements:

  • A willingness to get involved and learn in a hands-on manner
  • High standards when it comes to cleanliness and safety
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully
  • Ability to reliably get to-and-from both the workplace and TAFE

You will learn:

  • To put together recipes and cook gourmet pie fillings
  • To prepare pastry types; puff, crust, shortbread etc.
  • To prepare bread types; white fruit, banana bread etc.
  • To prepare cake types; custard tarts, vanilla slice, donuts, sweet pies, etc.
  • Learn the nature of baking
  • Attend and participate fully and professionally in the TAFE classroom environment
